Planning the Iconography

There are many aspects which an audience will expect from a dance music video and for our music video we plan to follow some of these iconic conventions in order to entertain our audience, however we may challenge some of the conventions in order to intrigue the audience.

One convention of a dance music video is having a new car in it, in our music video we will have a ... this is because it allows the audience to see the artists lifestyle and this will intrigue the, We will have many shots of the car in our music video as it is the main piece of transport in the music video which takes the shots from location to location.

Our video will also include references to drinks, drugs and smoking as these are some of the main conventions to dance music videos so the audience will expect to see them, and also they link strongly with the lyrics as the song is about how the younger generation are messing up there lives with drink and drugs. The alcohol and drugs will add to the party atmosphere which we pan to create throughout our music video in order to show how out of control teenagers can be. So the use of the alcohol, drugs and cigarettes strongly conform to the dance music genre. We also decided to create a shot involving someone throwing money onto the drugs, and this could represent the artists rich lifestyle which the audience will be extremely interested in, but whilst it is conforming to the dance music conventions it is also linking to the lyrics, party atmosphere and to the way teenagers are messing up their lives.

Also during our music video our artist will be wearing a baseball jacket with his 'M' initial on it to further express his rich lifestyle as he has a personalised jacker which the audiecne will enjoy seeing as if they aspire to be like their favourite artist they will want to know as much about him as they can
and may also want to copy his image. Also, after seeing this music video his fans may now ecpect him to wear this jacket a lot, with his inital on it, so it may become a trrademark jacket for our artist.
